KS3 Evil and Suffering Unit that includes PowerPoint-led learning through an engaging and well-designed Work Pack. This unit explores all of the nuanced and specialist learning by adopting socially distant teaching techniques. The PowerPoints aid a ‘plug in and play’ approach to teaching, benefiting both subject specialists and non-subject specialists alike. In addition, the Powerpoint and the Work Pack now includes all resources that the students need to access an engaging, high-quality education. Lessons include: L1 - What is evil? L2 - Where do we learn morality? L3 - Case Study - Harold Shipman L4 - What is the problem of evil? L5 - Accounting for evil - the story of Job L6 - Has evil changed over time? Scaffolding is included in the Powerpoint itself and also in the Work Pack to ensure maximum engagement and comprehension. Challenges (extension tasks) also exist throughout the unit to further enhance skills and understanding. These clear and engaging revision sheets are indented for independent study or to aid revision for the key scholar Mary Wollstonecraft in the topic of Gender. Each sheet is downloaded as an A3 Word document and an A4 PDF, for compatibility. I felt it was important to make these sheets as my students sometimes misunderstood the context of the philosophers or the chronology of the arguments (and responses). Therefore, these context sheets aim to tackle these misconceptions and re-examine the theory and/or philosopher within the context in which they should be viewed. This incredibly fun card game revises Islam: Beliefs, Teachings and Practices A take on ‘Cards Against Humanity’ - Cards FOR Humanity revises Religious Studies GCSE (AQA syllabus - though can also be used for other exam boards as the content is similar) through a fun, competitive and interactive card game. Topics Covered: Islam Beliefs and Teachings - Allah - Beliefs - Risalah - Prophets - Holy Books - Angels - Akhirah and Day of Judgement Islam Practices - Five Pillars - 10 Obligatory Acts - Festivals - Sunni/Shi’a Each game required three or more players to play. Rules are the same as the original game: 7 white cards each at all times players rotate the person who ask the question on the black card asker chooses the winning answer winner keeps the black card pick up of new white cards for the players who spent a card on that round (must have 7 in hand at all times) asker rotates winner is the player with the most black cards (correct answers) at the end of the game :) A classroom favourite of my pupils :) highly competitive! This lesson is titled ‘Who Was Muhammad?’ and is Lesson 1-2 from a KS3 enquiry-unit called ‘Who Was Muhammad?’ The unit assumes very little prior learning, however it would be ideal if students had already learned the basics of Islam so that they can delve deeper into understanding the person of Muhammad.
